In our work together, I will show you how to begin to develop empathy and compassion for what in you feels stuck or painful.

What makes my work unique is that I teach you to turn toward what is uncomfortable in a way that is safe and friendly. You’ll feel a radical acceptance of what you have previously pushed aside or locked away, and you’ll feel those very issues leading you in the direction of growth and change.

As a Focusing-Oriented therapist, I help clients sense issues with both mind and body.

Talk therapy alone does not generate lasting change. Research has shown it often leads to dead ends. Research has also revealed the underlying process in all therapy that does lead to change. It is a process of slowing down and attending directly to your bodily felt sense of an issue. When you contact your inner sense of the whole of an issue, fresh and new steps for growth emerge. Being able to let your body speak is the key to change. We call this Focusing.

The doorway to healing asks you to look inward.

I will guide you in a gentle way of sensing how the situation feels in your body—the knot in your stomach or the lump in your throat. We will move back and forth between:

  • Talking about what you already know
  • Sensing into your body for how you hold what you know and something more about your situation

I will help you gain insight by sensing for ‘something more’.

The something more is the unclear or fuzzy feeling that requires you to slow down so it can come into focus as words, an image, a memory, or a gesture that captures the whole of it. You contact and describe this something more in detail, changing the description of what you are sensing as you journey more deeply into it.

Break through and move forward!

As you sense and clarify that something more, you will feel a shift in your body, like energy releasing and moving forward.
